Storage Buildings
Those who own a large chunk of land may want to consider
adding a storage building. This may take the form of a barn with stalls
or a loft for harvested grains and foodstuffs. Or it may simply be a
pole building in which equipment or household items are kept.
The advantage of a storage building is that you can hold on to valuable
possessions or expensive items that you otherwise might have to store
elsewhere or get rid of. But the negative side is the expense of
putting up and maintaining a storage building, not to mention its
appearance and the taxes you may have to pay.
A building in which you can store things will probably set well behind
the main house or away from the road. You can build a unit in just

good prices on the materials unless you plan to have a contractor or
builder put up the unit for you; then that person may be able to get a
good price on the needed materials.
Give some thought to the eye appeal of your storage building. If its
purpose will be merely functional, you don’t have to worry too much
about how it looks. But if the building will sit near your home or in
an attractive environment, you may want to fix up the exterior with a
coat of paint or some kind of finish, perhaps even adding cosmetic
touches like windows and flowers.
Your storage building can house things for sale, when you have the
proper licensing, or it can manage additional possessions for which
