CD Storage
Collecting CD’s can be fun over time, especially as you
gradually find the ones you want to add to your collection. But if you
don’t take care of them properly, they may not last long at all. These
items are too expensive to keep replacing time after time, so give some
thought as to where and how you want to store them, and for how long.
One thing you can do to make them last is to keep your CD’s in a
central location where you can easily find the one you want. Make sure
the area is clean, neat, and safe for CD’s, not a location where kids
will be banging toys around and wrestling with the dog. For example, a
damp basement or a steamy attic is not the right environment for these
valuable treasures.
Then you need to select storage cases for your CD’s. There are many
available to choose from, mostly in hard plastic. You can get an
assortment of colors, with prices as low as perhaps a dollar apiece.
Some companies will monogram your initials into the case. If it should
become lost, you can quickly claim it since your name will be on it.
Many types of stores carry these, like Radio Shack, ComUSA, and Best
Buy, so they should not be hard to find.
Keep the CD storage cases clean and organized by artist or by title.
This makes it easier to find the one you want and to help protect them
from environmental elements that can be damaging. Check the cases
periodically to see if they are cracked, chipped, or otherwise broken.
If they are, replace them promptly so the CD doesn’t get damaged. Don’t
write on the cases with marker or pen, or anything else for that
matter, as it will only make the case unattractive over time.
